The name Nutella has both English and Italian words behind it; Nut means hazelnut in English, while tella means sweet in Italian. Nutella, which has production facilities in 75 countries of the world, sells a product every two and a half seconds, and on the other hand, it uses almost 25% of the world’s hazelnut production alone. The production facility of Nutella, which also produces in our country, is in Manisa.

Nutella was developed in Italy in order to provide a solution to the supply of chocolate after the problem of cocoa supply in the second world war with a similar problem. Pietro Ferrero, the pastry chef living in Piedmont in Italy, created a paste with hazelnuts, sugar and cocoa, and it is even said that he woke his wife up that night and excitedly wanted her to taste this paste. In the course of time, Pietro’s son Michelle has improved the formula and started to put Nutella, which is loved by the whole world, in jars. Nutella, which first entered the French market, quickly spread all over the world and became a phenomenon. Having gained its world-renowned and popular design in 1965, Nutella entered the European market in 1964, but entered the US market in 1983.

Nutella, which is on its way to conquer hearts with its simple and easy-to-remember design, is now a dessert loved by millions and easily accessible. It is thought that the estimated earnings of Michella Ferraro, the current owner of Nutella, whose formula is known to differ according to the country, exceeds 26 billion dollars.
